History
In 1991, MILCOM a.s. was established as the legal successor to the state enterprise of Scientific, Technical, Commercial, and Technical Services, which was founded in 1989 as a company uniting service, research, consulting, and auxiliary production activities of the former General Directorate of the Dairy Industry.
At the time of its establishment, the company had six independent plants and employed approximately 200 staff. Throughout the 1990s, as part of the privatization process, the company gradually reduced its activities, resulting in a decrease in both the number of plants and the workforce.
In 1999, the company was fully privatized, meaning the state, as the sole owner, sold 100% of the shares of MILCOM a.s. to the highest bidder in a public tender. Since then, the company has been privately owned by Czech individuals.
Since the late 1990s, MILCOM a.s. has focused its activities on the company’s headquarters and three plants located in Prague, Tábor, and Dvůr Králové nad Labem, each specializing in various areas of the food industry.
Service Facility Dvůr Králové nad Labem
The beginnings of the engineering activities of our company can be traced back to the early 1980s. At that time, a service workshop called the Service Operations Plant was established at the site of a former dairy in Dvůr Králové nad Labem, serving as an auxiliary service facility for NAGEMA from former East Germany, specialized in manufacturing food processing machinery for the territory of former Czechoslovakia, Poland, and other countries of the former Comecon. Ten years later, NAGEMA’s operations in Germany were completely ceased, and the plant was closed. All know-how, documentation, parts, tools, and other specific equipment related to NAGEMA’s activities in the dairy sector were acquired by MILCOM a.s. Until 2002, the primary focus of the plant was on the production of spare parts, repairs, and overhauls of dairy machinery, particularly the original NAGEMA PA1 butter packaging machines and the Nagema SMZA, SMZB, SMZC, and SMZE milk centrifuges.
Since 2002, MILCOM a.s. in Dvůr Králové nad Labem has launched the production of next-generation PA1 machines, designated MILCOM PA1. These machines have undergone continuous development in terms of materials used to meet hygiene requirements—such as stainless steel, food-grade plastics, etc.—safety features, expanding packaging format options, new product packaging, the use of alternative packaging materials, and, not least, measures to increase the shelf life of packaged products. Alongside the development of primary packaging for products such as butter, cottage cheese, butter blends, margarines, as well as lard and other suitable paste-like products into film, MILCOM a.s. also manufactures equipment for subsequent cartoning. This primarily includes traditional semi-automatic cartoning machines SK1, as well as newly developed fully automated cartoning machines MILCOM SKA.
Thanks to this development and intensive business activities, MILCOM’s machines have achieved success not only in European markets but also in markets in Asia, as well as in the regions of the Middle East and the USA.
